The Liebster Blog Award
I have been kindly nominated for the Liebster Blog Award by Emma Kate at Painted Style.
In case you didn’t know, The Liebster Blog Award is given to upcoming bloggers (usually who have yet to reach 200 followers), by fellow bloggers who have received the award themselves and in turn nominate their favourite blogs.
Having been nominated, I should now answer 11 questions and post 11 random facts about myself.
Here we go!
1. Why did you start blogging?
I was finding lots of American blogs about home interiors and organising, but not so many UK ones, so I thought I’d have a bash

2. Who is your biggest celebrity crush?
I’ve got a couple! But I’ll say the the one my hubs knows about – that would be James Franco.
3. What are you scared of?
Being really scared. I’d hate to think of being paralysed with fear over something and not able to act or react – slightly odd answer!
4. Where would you like a holiday home?
Portugal would be lovely, thanks.
5. Tell me a burning ambition?
To write a TV drama and get it commissioned.
6. What is your home decor style?
Comfy and liveable. I like a mix of modern and old.
7. Who is your favourite clothing designer?
Although I like fashion, I don’t know all the designers – I just enjoy putting looks together and stylish people.
8. Are you a cat person or a dog person?
I prefer cats, but my children would really like us to get a dog.
9. What advice would you give your 16 year old self?
Set your sights higher career-wise. Train to be an architect or journalist.
10. Whose was the first blog you followed? (Not necessarily in an official followy way)
Iheart Organizing
11. What do you look for and enjoy most of all in other peoples blogs?
Do-able project inspiration, humour, nice photos and nothing too long-winded – life is short!
11 random things about me:
- I am an only child
- I once had a short story published in Just 17, but the previous week’s author was credited with writing it
- My earliest memories are feeding a bull at my aunt’s farmhouse in America when I was 2
- I can sign the alphabet which was taught to me by a friend at Junior School
- I write my shopping lists in shorthand
- I marked my 25th birthday by having my very long hair cut very short
- I have a fondness for boots and knitwear
- My middle name is Caroline
- The furthest I have travelled from home is the Southernmost Point at Key West in Florida
- Four of my molars are still milk teeth
- I can’t leave the house without any make up on
Next I am supposed to nominate 11 blogs, but I can’t do that many since I haven’t yet come across all the fab new blogs out there that I know I would enjoy reading.
Most of the blogs I read have either already received the Liebster Award, or they are well over the 200 followers mark.
So, in no particular order, here are my faves (and apols if some of these blogs already enjoy in excess of 200 followers – it is not always possible to tell)
- Lilacs and Longhorns – Julie’s warmth comes through her posts, I love her home and in particular her painted china cabinet! She lives in Texas and although we live many miles apart we seem to share a lot of similar likes and do a lot of ‘cross-pinning’ on Pinterest
- Life in Eight – Gaby’s blog is a brand new read for me, but already I am admiring her style and organising skills
- The home organisation project – Sarah and I seem to be on the same page, from what I have read so far of her home-orientated blog and she has a good sense of humour
- Marie Debell – exquisite hand-painted furniture aplenty to be found here – lots of lovely eye candy for me to ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ over
- Dad with two kids – a new blog by a dad about life with his two adorable children – very heart-warming and funny, you should definitely go read
These are the questions it would be fun to have the above nominees answer, if they so choose. No pressure though – it’s just a bit of fun!
1. Can you ride a bike?
2. What was the first concert you ever went to?
3. What is your favourite fruit?
4. Favourite rainy day activity?
5. Person you would most like to be for one day?
6. If you ever had the chance to travel to the moon, would you?
7. Have you ever broken a bone?
8. Can you sing?
9. Nicest beach you have ever been to?
10. Tea or coffee?
11. Have you ever been on TV?
Phew, and if you got to the end of all that, then you also deserve an award!

Congratulations to you and thanks so much for the nomination! I’m so flattered! We do seem to do a lot of cross-pinning, don’t we?! I enjoyed reading your answers and getting to know you better! What a fun award!
You are welcome, Julie. Now, I’m just off to see what you have pinned today!
Yay! That was fast work! I’m gutted for you over the Just 17 story! Crushing blow! I’m with you on the boots and knitwear. And the advice to your 16 year old self! Well done Antonia and thanks for playing along! x
It was really fun! x
Yey! What a great award – well done you! Also, thanks so much for thinking of me to be nominated. Hee hee! I am probably a little too excited about this, but i can’t help it!!
I’m just laughing at your random factoid #11 about leaving the house without make up. I am fine about having a bare face as long as i have my eyebrows drawn on. I feel utterly bare without them bad boys!
You are welcome! Yes that’s how I feel without a little bit of make-up – naked! x
Congrats Ant and thank you ever so much for considering my little online home for the nomination! As I’m quite a newbie, I wasn’t aware of such a thing but I think it’s a great idea because it not only allows us to get to know other new blogs but also the lovely people behind them!
congrats to you! And thank you so much for my nomination, it really cheered my day and glad someone is actually reading my words
have a lovely weekend and once again thank you !
Do you really still have 4 milk teeth? That defies logic!
Ha, I know but it’s true! You can’t tell, ‘cos they are further back – I didn’t know until I had an x-ray on a wisdom tooth in my twenties. The dentist said the 4 adult teeth weren’t there to push them out!
Keep blogging – it takes ages to build up an audience – but you write really well and just think it will be nice for your kids to read when they get older
