Whilst I was recently up in our loft, I happened to notice some old wooden boards, nailed together and propped up around the old, disused water tank.
It occured to me that I could maybe use them to make some pallet-style wall art. Pinterest inspired pallet-style wall art, naturally
I took the smallest one, prised out the rusty old nails and gave it a good wash – it is anyone’s guess how long the wood has been up there gathering dust.
Next, I gave it a quick sand over and whitewashed it with some diluted left over paint.

I added some of my new home-made felt bunting (coming soon to an Etsy shop near you!) and then couldn’t decide what to paint or stencil onto the wood.
I needed a motto or some wise-words, so decided to play around with some mock-ups on the computer before I put paintbrush to wood.
I really like these words…

… but I’m wondering if it is a bit too grown up for the kids space.
There’s the good old:

Or maybe:

The boys watched the Smurfs movie recently and they keep singing these words…

Or I could just paint a simple, big heart with the word LOVE (the boys would love that, not!)
So that’s where I’m at. I’ll get some family input and see what we all like best and I’ll let ya know!
In the meantime, at least I now have a logo for my Etsy shop

What a fabulous loft find! It’s looking great so far! x
Thanks, yep a pretty good find. I’ve got an idea for the biggest board, but I need the help of my dad’s carpentry skills for that one!
I love this idea!!! I recently made an ottoman out of a pallet! It’s amazing how much these little wood scraps can be used for! http://domesticsuperhero.com/2012/10/18/diy-tufted-ikat-ottoman-from-upcycled-pallet/
That ottoman is fabulous! Well done you for such a great job, so professional
